The walrus is a relative of the seal and sea lion, but is much larger. An adult walrus can weigh up to 2,000 pounds, and has 3-foot long ivory tusks! Thick blubber, or fat, helps it stay warm in cold Arctic water. By inflating a special air sac in its throat, the walrus can stay alfoat in the ocean. Using its sensitive whiskers, it searches for clams, snails and other animals on the sandy ocean floor.
