Great Moms in Business

Fuzzy Slippers
After many years in the corporate world, I traded in my stilettos for fuzzy slippers I can wear all over the house (and sometimes even to the grocery store). I have three kids and as they have gotten older, it became important for me to be a bigger part of their lives, not just a mom they saw only a few hours a week. It was a tough transition to say the least - but my kids are worth it.

Now that I am an equal mix “working mom” and “stay at home mom” I have made an effort to support other women in this position. It is quite astonishing the large number of women who have transitioned to working inside the home. I love supporting other mothers like myself and want to share a few of my favorite sites!

CDK Kids - In 1996, mother of two Cyndi Steinmetz was sad that she couldn't spend more time with her kids. She quit her full time job and started a business selling adorable and unique children’s gifts including stuffed animals and personalized story books. Since then the business has grown to include wall décor, puzzles, games, toys, dolls and other gifts.

Everloop – Founded by three moms who were concerned that their kids were feeling pressure to lie about their ages to gain access to social media networks. They joined together to create a safer online, social home base for kids under 13. Everloop is a free place where kids can connect with friends, play games, share pictures, send messages, discover new talents, learn and have fun.

Tooth Fairy Keepsake Gifts – You know how important it is to your kids when they lose their teeth, but what do you DO with the teeth? Thanks to creative mom, Kristin Del Castillo, there is now a tooth fairy keepsake book. A unique and creative gift or perfect to use for your own kids.

Signing Time - When Rachel Coleman and her husband Aaron discovered their first daughter Leah was deaf, they immediately started learning ASL so they could communicate with her. Then Rachel teamed up with her sister, Emilie Brown, to create an entertaining video which made it easy and fun for their family and friends to learn ASL. Since then, Signing Time has grown to include 28 DVDs, 7 CDs, 3 Board Books, 4 flash card sets and even aired on PBS stations throughout the country.

Well done moms and keep up the great work!
